The avionic vehicular mode S SICE transponder it’s a vehicles trans receiver that extends the capabilities of the system of air traffic control also to the service vehicles in motion on airport area.
The vehicular device shall be applied on the roof of that vehicle and it’s powered directly from the battery. It’s equipped with GPS receiver and can both send and receive mode S signals, allowing both the location of the vehicle by the ATC and the reception of messages assigns to the driver.
In this way it provides a real data links of mode S between the control tower and all the vehicles in motion in the airport area. The vehicular transceivers can be interfaced with an LCD display to position on the dashboard of the vehicle, in order to show on a screen the situation of the vehicles in movement in the vicinity, reducing the risk of collision between the vehicles and the aircrafts also in low visibility conditions.
